“Path to Total Victory”
May 2025 will mark the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in Europe. For this reason we will create a short documentary of only two episodes in which we will follow the 1st Canadian Corps, freshly arrived from the Italian front to join the rest of the 1st Canadian Army, in their final struggle to achieve Total Victory and the Liberation of the Netherlands at the end of April 1945. We will relive the actions of the battle of Apeldoorn, Otterlo, and other significant events. We will also take a look at the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion who participated in Operation Varsity, the last Allied Airborne Operation of WW2, and relate the story of Corporal Frederick Topham who earned a Victoria Cross during this Operation.
We are delighted to welcome Retired Colonel Tony Battista again as our Executive Producer for this production. Because of his dedication and passionate communication skills, Tony is an excellent ambassador of Bravery In Arms.
Our goal is to deploy our small filming crew to Holland from 10 to 18 April 2025 to film this documentary on the ground. Our collegues historians from the Netherlands, Jimmy (Jimbo) Hilgen and Tjarco Schuurman will be our guides on the ground. We are also planning to use the service of a group of volonteer re-enactors to recreate some battle scenes that will add to the visual effect of the documentary and help me visualise the commemorative painting(s) that will complement this project.
The Documentary and the accompanying painting(s) will be unveiled and presented to the public, during the Week preceding Remembrance Day in November 2025.

“Chemin de la Victoire””
Le mois de mai 2025 marquera le 80e anniversaire de la victoire en Europe. Pour cette raison, nous allons produire un documentaire en deux épisodes qui nous fera suivre le 1er Corps Canadien fraîchement arrivé depuis l’Italie pour rejoindre la 1ère Armée Canadienne et participer au derniers combats sur le “Chemin de la Victoire” et la libération de la Hollande au mois d’avril 1945. Nous allons revivre les faits d’armes des batailles d’Apeldoorn, d’Otterlo et d’autres actions d’envergure. Nous allons aussi découvrir le 1er Bataillon de Parachutistes Canadiens qui participa à l’Opération Varsity, la dernière opération aéroportée de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale. De ce fait, nous parlerons des actions courageuses du Caporal Frederick Topham, qui lui méritèrent la Croix de Victoria.
C’est avec joie que nous acceuillons à nouveau Le Colonel à la retraite Tony Battista en tant que Producteur Executif de cette nouvelle production. Grâce à son dévouement et ses talents de communicateur passionné, Tony est un grand ambassadeur de Bravery In Arms.
Notre but est de déployer notre petite équipe de tournage en Hollande du 10 au 18 avril 2025 pour filmer notre documentaire sur les lieux historiques. Nos collègues historiens hollandais, MM. Jimmy (Jimbo) Hilgen et Tjarco Schuurman seront nos guides sur le terrain. Nous planifions aussi utiliser les services de volontaires pour reconstituer des scènes de combats qui ajouteront un plus grand impact à nos histoires et serviront d’inspiration pour la création de mes tableaux commémoratifs que je peindrai à mon retour.
Le documentaire et les tableaux seront dévoilés et présentés au grand public pendant la semaine des Anciens combattants, au mois de novembre 2025.
